v ” St. LUKE’S CHURCH. ANNUAL MEETING OF LADIES’ • • GUILD. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of St. Luke’s Ladies’ Guild was recently held in the Parish Hall. Owing to much sickness and the Eas- ■ ter holidays being at hand, the attendance was not up to its usual standard. Apologies were received from Misses Tate and Wyett and Mesdames Rees, Day. Kidd, Davis, , Barcham, Sykes, Burch and O’Neale. Members stood in silent sympathy with the relatives of the late Mrs E. M. Slater and Ross Hay. A hearty welcome was extended to two new members. Both the president’s report and the treasurer’s balance sheet were received with much pleasure, and the members ' voted’£lso to the reduction of the vicarage debt. Mrs York (president) and Mrs Graham (hon. secretary and treasurer) were unanimously re-elected. Mrs Rees and Canon Sykes were elected vicepresidents, and Mr W. A. Tate hon. auditor. The placing of flowers in the church during April will be undertaken- by Mrs Bayliss, and Mrs A. York has volunteered to clean the brasswork. At the close of the meeting a dainty afternoon tea was served by Mesdames York and Everett. Personal Items. Mr W. A. Perry, of Christchurch, is staying with Mr and Mrs J. Rees, McMaster Street. Mrs O’Neale and her daughter. Mrs Horsfall, of Wellington, are visiting Greytown. Mr and Mrs T. Gold are spending Easter at Day’s Bay. Mr and Mrs A. Nisbet are visitors to Taupo. Mr J. W. Tate is visiting the Chateau Tongarlro. Mr L. Curtis has left for Nelson. Influenza Epidemic. ' At the present time there are quite a number of Greytown people ill with influenza.
