MOTOR CARS COLLIDE

ON MASTERTON-CARTERTON ROAD. THREE MEN INJURED. A collision between two motor cars occurred on the Carterton-Masterton main highway on Thursday night. One car was travelling northwards, and was driven by Mr E. Robinson, farm hand, the car being owned by Mrs Haxton, of Upper Plain, who was also in the car. The other car was driven by Mr J. E. Hulme, of Masterton, and was owned by his aunt, Mrs McKenzie. In the latter car were also Messrs S. Williams and B. Brennan. Just prior to the collision a car drawing a caravan was passed by one of the cars. It was then that the collision took place in the centre of the road near the Clareville racecourse. So great was the collision that both cars were badly damaged, and were taken to Masterton by breakdown vans for repairs. Mr Hulme had a bone broken in his left hand, Mr Williams received a bad cut on his head, and Mr Brennan a cut on his forehead. They were attended by Dr. R. N. Campbell, of Carterton. The occupants of the other car escaped injury.
