MAGISTRATE’S COURT
FORTNIGHTLY MASTERTON SITTING. POLICE BUSINESS. Mr H. P. Lawry. S.M.. presided at the fortnightly sitting of the Masterton Magistrate's Court held today. A girl, whose name was suppressed, pleaded guilty to a charge of being an idle and disorderly person . with no visible means of support. Detective-Sergeant W. Kane said that the social welfare people had obtained work for the girl. He was quite prepared to allow her to take up the position provided she was amenable to some discipline. , In convicting her and ordering her to come up for sentence if called upon within 12 months, Mr Lawry said: “If you behave yourself and do not get into any more trouble you will not hear any more about it." Arthur Hoar was convicted and fined £2 and 10s costs on a charge of having exceeded 30 miles an hour in his motor car in a restricted area. On judgment summonses, W. Brown was ordered to pay E. D. Wycherley the sum of £8 12s lOd forthwith in default 8 days’ imprisonment; W. Large was ordered to pay Bullick-Blackmore, Ltd., the sum of £6 13s 6d forthwith, in default 6 days’ imprisonment.
