PERSONAL ITEMS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr A. Jensen, of Belvedere Road, Carterton, who is an inmate of the Masterton Hospital successfully underwent an operation yesterday and passed a comfortable night. News has been received in Carterton that Mr T. L. Arcus, son of Mr Thos S. Arcus of South Carterton; underwent an operation in the Wellington Hospital on Monday. His many Carterton friends will wish for him a speedy recovery. The death took place at Lower Hutt yesterday of Miss E. L Stuart-Forbes, eldest daughter of the late Sir William and Lady Stuart-Forbes. The late Miss Stuart-Forbes was well known in Carterton where she and her parents resided many years ago. Dixon Street Improvement. Dixon Street yesterday was a veritable hive of industry for at about 10 a.m. a large staff of Borough and County workmen were busy with the roadmaking plant of the County sealing the street from curb to curb. Good progress was made with the work and all going well the job should be completed today. When finished the thoroughfare will be the best in the borough. Physical Culture School. A movement which should be of considerable interest to the parents of Carterton boys is at present beingplanned. It is the establishment of a physical culture and boxing school to cater for boys up to 15 years of'age. Mr C. Holland, of High Street, will pass on any details to parents 'interested and activities are proposed to commence almost immediately. BOWLING. GRADY MEDALS. Messrs F. Harrington and Geo Riggs (s) went to Greytown yesterday and defeated the holders of the Grady Medals, Messrs R. G. Vile and W. Higgison (s) by 27/18. The game was a good one, but the result was never in doubt. Mr W. Higgison followed a challenge to Masterton on Tuesday afternoon, and played a match against Mr Taylor, the holder of the Pragnell Cup. After a good game the cup was retained by Mr Taylor. POST AND TELEGRAPH. ? EASTER ARRANGEMENTS. The following hours will be observed at the Carterton Post Office during the Easter period:—
> Thursday, April 6:—A delivery of correspondence will be made over the counter between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Good Friday—Closed in all branches except the Telephone Exchange. Easter Saturday—All branches will be open as usual. Postmen’s and Rural deliveries will be made. A delivery of correspondence will be made over the counter between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Easter Monday—All mails will close at 7 a.m. Street pillar boxes will be cleared at 6 a.m. The Telegraph, Postal, Money Order and Savings Bank will not be open. Postmen’s and Rural deliveries will not be made on Good Friday and Eas-ter-Monday.
The .Telephone Exchange will be open continuously.
