STIFFENER FOR GUN MOUNTINGS. ACTIVITIES IN BRITAIN. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Dav, 12.50 p.m.) ' LONDON, April 5. Speaking in the House of Commons Mr G. 11. Shakespeare (Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty) anticipated that one thousand merchant ships would be stiffened for gun mountings by the end of the year, and.that there .would be sufficient anti-submarine guns and ammunition ready for all requirements. The provision of antiaircraft guns was progressing.
