SIX THOUSAND PLANES AS OBJECTIVE.
NEW BUILDING PROGRAMME. Hy Telegraph— Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 11.55 a.m.) WASHINGTON, April 4. The War Department is launching a programme to build the air corps to six thousand planes, set as an immediate objective, with delivery of three thousand within two years. It is said that the fastest of the new types will be capable of speeds of up to 400 miles per hour.
