SIT-DOWN STRIKE
UNION TO PAY DAMAGES. IMPORTANT PRECEDENT SET IN AMERCIA. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright PHILADELPHIA. April 3. The Federal District Court jury of eight women and four men set an important precedent in labour history today by finding a trade union responsible for damages incurred during a sit-down strike. A branch of the American Federation of Hosiery Workers was ordered to pay the Apex Hosiery Mill 237.310 dollars. The damages will be tripled under the Sherman anti-trust law. The Supreme Court recently outlawed sitdown strikes.
