KING GHAZI
DEATH REPORTED IN MOTOR ACCIDENT CAR STRIKES ELECTRIC PYLON. WHILE TRAVELLING AT HIGH SPEED. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. LONDON. April 4. The Bagdad correspondent of the Havas Agency reports that King Ghazi of Iraq was killed in a motor accident, colliding with an electric pylon at midnight while driving his own car at high speed. The Emir Feisal, aged three, is the heir. SON PROCLAIMED EMIR ABDUL APPOINTED REGENT. (Received This Day. 9.50 a.m.) BAGHDAD, April 4. King Ghazi’s son has been proclaimed Feisal 11. His uncle, Emir Abdul, has been appointed Regent. CONSUL ASSASSINATED FOLLOWING NEWS OF KING’S DEATH. MARTIAL LAW DECLARED AT MOSUL. (Received This Day, 9.50 a.m.) BAGHDAD, April 4. Mr G. E. A. C. Monckmason, British Consul at Mosul was assassinated by revolver shots, during a demonstration after the news of King Ghazi’s death. A mob rushed and set fire to the consulate. Martial law has been declared in Mosul. TRAFFIC SUSPENDED. (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) BAGHDAD, April 4. King Ghazi lay in state in the afternoon. Traffic in the city was suspended. King Ghazi is being interred tomorrow.
