LORD HUNTINGFIELD
DEPARTURE FROM VICTORIA. TRIBUTE TO RETIRING GOVERNOR. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright. MELBOURNE, April 4. A. crowd of 7000 persons witnessed the departure of the Governor of Victoria, Lord Huntingfield, at Port Melbourne today on the completion of hk* term of office. Before boarding R.M.S. Mooltan Lord Huntingfield drove through the city in a State coach, passing through densely-lined streets, to give the people an opportunity to say farewell. Many tributes were paid to his popularity as the coach travelled from Government House along St Kilda Road to St Paul’s Cathedral, where from the steps Arc.rbishop Head said a special prayer and pronounced the Benediction. From the cathedral the procession proceeded to Par. lament House and the Town Hall, where farewells were exchanged with political and civic leaders. The route was then through the industrial suburbs of south Melbourne and Port Melbourre. where crowds also lined the streets and waved farewell. As the Mooltan drew out. the band of the Royal Australian Air For;e played "Auld Lang Syne."
