Praise for New Zealand Corriedales.

The opinion that the New Zealand Corriedales were the best he had ever seen was expressed by Mr W. S. Hedges, a West Australian breeder, in an interview at Wellington. Questioned regarding Australian Corriedales, Mr Hedges said that most breeders paid too much attention to wool, with a consequent deterioration of carcase and ultimately of constitution. “I have started my new stud with pure New Zealand blood.” he added, “and intend to keep it pure, maintaining the type with further annual importations.” Employment Stamps. At the close of business on March 31. the Post Office ceased selling employment stamps, used for several years for recording the deductions required under the Employment Act of levies on wages and salaries. The issue from April I is of a new sot of stamps, similar in design to the former issue, but marked “Social Security.” Those employers who pay wages on Saturday and had not obtained the required supply of stamps used for the 8d in the £ wages tax will have to use the new stamps. Complaints on that ground were made and the suggestion put forth that the Post Office should extend the time in which employers could obtain the former employment tax stamps for deductions from wages earned before April 1.
