MINIATURE RIFLES CLUB. FIRST CLASS RANGE PREPARED. (“Times-Age” Special.) Great interest is being taken in the Carterton Miniature Rifle Club this season and already several new members have their intention of joining up. A strong working bee was in evidence last night, and a first class range has been prepared which should be equal to any in the Wairarapa. The official opening will take place on Tuesday evening, April 11 at 7 o’clock. Personal Items. Mr H. J. McKenzie left today on his annual leave. He will attend the annual conference of New Zealand Referees to be held at Gisborne at Easter. A wedding of interest to Greytown residents will take place on Saturday evening next. Mr and Mrs Guy Booth and family, of Paraparaumu, are spending a holiday in Carterton. Mr L. H. Smart; the popular secretary of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society, has left for the Sydney Royal Agricultural Show and will be the official representative of the Wairarapa Society at that gathering. Bowling. Three rinks of Carterton bowlers will take part in Easter tournaments. Two rinks will go to Palmerston North and one to Nelson. Football Club. An excellent practice was held on the Showgrounds last evening by all grades of the Carterton Club. The first match of the season will take place at Carterton on Saturday when the local senior fifteen will play the first of its annual home and home fixtures with the Wellington Club. Heavy Frost Does Damage. A very heavy frost was experienced in Carterton this morning, and pumpkins, beans and tomatoes were all blackened as a result. The fact that such a heavy frost has been experienced so early in the autumn is not a promising sign as far as prospective winter conditions are concerned. School Committee. The chairman, Mr H. J. McKenzie, presided at the monthly meeting of the Carterton District High School committee, and there were also present: Messrs W. E. Knowles (secretary), J. Finn (treasurer), P. Beere, G. Rabbits, C.
