TENNIS TITLES

CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS.

WIN FOR D. G. FRANCE.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day.

Though a gusty westerly wind marred play in the preliminary matches of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association’s champion of champions tournament in Miramar on Saturday afternoon, competitors and spectators were compensated by a perfect afternoon yesterday, when the finals were played. D. G. France (Thorndon) retained his title, beating E. A. Roussell (Wellington) in the final after a keenly-contest-ed match in which France’s greater steadiness was the deciding factor. Miss J. Douthett( Newtown) retained her title, beating Miss J. Forrester (Broadway) in the final 6/0,6/1.
