Mrs P. Gillon, Masterton, is the guest ot Mrs A. A. Gillon, Patea. Mrs Kelly, of Pahiatua, has returned home after a visit to Paraparaumu. Mrs S. J. Gill and Miss ‘Patricia Gill left Masterton today on a visit to Auckland.

Mr and Mrs J. de Castro, of Cole Street, Masterton, are spending a holiday at Tauranga.

Mrs J. Donald, Masterton, is the guest of her mother, Mrs I. M. Graham, Cambridge Street, Pahiatua. Mrs A. A. Vaughan has returned to Pahiatua from Masterton where she was attending a farewell to Dr Archer Hosking. Mr and. Mrs J. Cleghorn, of Pahiatua, are spending a few weeks in Carterton, prior to their departure for a holiday in the United States. Mrs Nellie Miller, of Cole Street, Masterton. has returned from a visit to Wellington, where she was the guest of Mrs E. A. Israel, of Pirie Street.

Miss G. Carle, Miriam Street, Masterton will leave tomorrow for Wellington where she will be the guest of Mrs H. Sharpies, Island Bay, prior to sailing for England by the'Arawa on Thursday. # -At the gathering held on Saturday by the Masterton Park Tennis Club to mark the closing of a very successful season, opportunity was taken to make a presentation to Miss Hessell who is to be married shortly. Miss Hessell suitably acknowledged the gift. At the Rongokokako Hall there was a large attendance when the settlers met *to honour Miss Nancy Smith in view of her approaching marriage. Dancing was indulged in to music supplied by Mr Norman Cooper, the M.C. being Mr Frank Sigvertsen. Mr Ben Morriss asked Miss Smith’s acceptance of the large number of presents. The evening was marked by great cordiality and goodwill towards the prospective bride.
