WOOL MARKET

TODAY’S SALE AT NAPIER KEEN INQUIRY FOR QUALITY CLIPS. LOWER RATES FOR LAMBS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) NAPIER. This Day. , The fourth wool sale of the Hawke s Bay series was held today, _ there being a full bench of buyers. .'There was a catalogue of 24,170 bales. Competition came mainly from Bradford and the Continent. Inquiry was keen for quality wools which were fully firm on last sale. Star lots sold particularly well, in some cases being rather dearer than at the last sale. Medium wools were on a par with the last sale, but seedy and inferior wools were definitely cheaper by jd to Id.

Bellies and pieces were easier. Lambs’ wqol, also, met with a slow demand at* lower rates. The best price in the morning was 13Ad, realised for an outstanding super lot from the Dannevirke district. Another super lot sold at 13d. Good quality fleece wools ranged from IOJd to 113 d. Up to IOJd was paid for the best lambs’ wool offering. , • XU At previous sales this season there was little difference comparatively between the values of the poor and better class wools; today, however, there is a marked absence of inquiry for seedy and inferior types, prices being down by up to Id for these types. The passings in such cases werd frequent, the number of lots passed today being greater than at any previous sale at this series.
