EVENTS IN PALESTINE
ORGANISED REVOLT NOW AT STANDSTILL VILLAGES SHOW HOSTILITY TO GANGSTERS. WEARY OF DEMANDS MADE FOR MONEY. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, April 1. Recent information from Palestine shows that, while there is still a number of small gangs in existence which molest transport and occasionally attack isolated settlements, the organised rebellion is almost at a standstill. Rebel gangs now do their best to avoid encounters with troops. Villagers in many parts of the country are showing increasing hostility to the gangsters, for they are weary of the demands made upon them for money and supplies. • This hostility is increased by the practice of small gang leaders of making forced collections for their own private benefit. PALM SUNDAY. CENTURY-OLD PROCESSION CANCELLED. (Received This Day, 9.45 a.m.) JERUSALEM, April 2. The fifty centuries-long historic Christian and Moslem Palm Sunday processions have been cancelled,' owing to the political tension.
