QUEEN VICTORIA

MONUMENT AT BIARRITZ. A monument to Queen Victoria will be erected this year to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of her first visit to Biarritz. The dedication ceremony will take place on April 13. A play written around the principal events of the queen’s life will also be stcigecl* * IVI. Georges Bonnet, Minister for Foreign Affairs, has accepted an invitation to be present, and it is expected that Lord Halifax will do likewise, Both governments will be represented at a series of Franco-British festivities. Folklore festivals, Basque music and dances, exhibition of pelota, the principal summer sport of the region, are also set down on the programme. Oxford and Cambridge have been invited to send Rugby teams, so that the Rugby enthusiasts of the south-west may on this occasion have an opportunity of seeing their favourite game as played between the two universities.
