RADIUM EXTRACTION

SIMPLER PROCESS'SOUGHT. . OTTAWA. Efforts have been directed by the National Research Council of Canada towards finding a simpler extraction process for the radium from Canadian ores. A report issued by the Council states that research work now being conducted offers possibilities of “recovering solne of the other radio-active products from the ore.” Other work undertaken during the past year in connection with radium research consists of altering and improving, equipment at the Council’s laboratories in Ottawa for the measurement of radium preparations. A new device has also been developed for the rapid inspection of radium containers for possible radon leakage.
