The fighting in Kiangsi centres around Lientang, 10 miles south ol Nanchang. The Japanese are attemptrm to cut the railway between Hanchang and Pingsiang. Another column is attacking Kwashan, 10 miles south of Lientang. the objective of the entne operation being the occupation of the Pingsiang colliery line soutuh of Nanchang, thereby cutting off the Chinese retreat. “DISTURBING PEACE” ASSISTANCE TO CHIANG KAI-SHEK. CHINESE PUPPET GOVERNMENTS protest. (Received This Day. 9.0 a.m.) NANKING. March 30. A joint commission of the PekingNanking puppet governments has issued a statement denouncing the financial assistance to Marshal Chiang Kai-Shek from Britain and other countries. , . , The statement says “such assistance only serves to disturb peace in the Far East and bring horrors to the Chinese masses. If it continues both governments will be compelled to abandon their efforts to maintain friendly relations with the foreign powers concerned or respect their rights and interests in China. All loans and other agreements between Marshal Chiang Kai-Shek and third powers are considered to be null and void.”
