General situation: Pressure is still rather high in the north, while a shallow westerly depression has been crossing the South Island. Forecast: Moderate to strong north-westerly winds reaching gale force at times in the Straits with a change to southerlies probable by tomorrow. Weather: Fair to cloudy at first but becoming overcast with possibly some light, rain following the southerly change. Temperatures becoming cooler.
