WORKMEN’S FRIEND.

ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS

The annual meeting of the IVoykmep’s Friend No. 2 Building Society was held yesterday at the secretary’s office. There was a fair attendance of members, Mr F. J. Hunp presiding, The annual report and balance sheet was adopted on the mqtiqn of the chairman, seconded by My Kemp. The chairman remarked that the Society could be considered to be making satisfactory progress. He urged members to make every effort to bring their arrears of payments up to date in their own interest and in the interests of other members. Mr Kemp also referred to the benefits which the Society conferred upon its members, and stated that members should make their payments so far as possible up to date, that being only fair tq the general body of shareholders. Messrs Jackson, Dixon and Brown the retiring directors, being the only nominees, were declared re-elected. Mr H. J. Fairchild was re-appointed shareholders’ auditor. A ballot was held for the appropriation of £4OO with the result that Mr R. Leng was declared entitled to £3OO, and Miss F. M. Allen.to £lOO. A vote of thanks was accorded to the chairman for his valued services during file past year. MEETING OF DIRPQTORS. The. monthly meeting of directors was held after the annual meeting. Mr F. J. Hunn was unanimously reelected chairman of directors for the ensuing year, and' expressed his appreciation of the continued confidence and co-operation of all the directors. Mr Kemp was unanimously re-elect-ed vice-chairman for the ensuing, year and expressed appreciation for his reelection. Mr P. L. Gully was re-elected directors’ auditor. The transfer of three s (ires from Miss Gillespie to Mr Russell was approved, and four new shares wore allotted to Mr C. W. Walker. The secretary was instructed to write certain members holding outstanding appropriations in regard to proposals for lifting the amounts and finding some investment therefor. It was decided that the valuation committee comprise three directors by rotation as hitherto. It was decided that directors’ meetings be held on the first Wednesday in every month at 7.30 p.m. as hitherto, the first meeting to be held in May.
