DEFENCE OF GIBRALTAR

The Government announces the creation of a defence force at Gibraltar, to control supplies in the case of an emergency. TROOPS AND ARTILLERY.. NATIONALISTS ON THE MOVE. GIBRALTAR, March 29. Nationalist troops and artillery from the interior are garrisoning districts surrounding Gibraltar. It is understood that.the Nationalists intend to fortify Sierra Carbonera opposite the rock. These districts have hitherto been almost unfortified or weakly garrisoned by the Nationalists after the removal of the howitzers to the mainland.
