BOMB EXPLOSIONS
ANOTHER OUTRAGE IN LONDON CENTRE OF HAMMERSMITH BRIDGE DAMAGED. PEDESTRIAN THROWS BOX INTO RIVER. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received This Day, 9 a.m.) LONDON, March 29. Two time bombs exploded on Hammersmitn Bridge, damaging the centre of the bridge. A man, walking on a bridge footpath, picked up a box, from which he heard crackles. He threw it over into the river, the box exploding before touching the water. As the man left the bridge a second explosion occurred on the other footpath. A car nire firm reports that a chauffeur drove two men to the Thames and stopped near the bridge where the chauffeur was neld down. When the explosion occurred the men disappeared. Over a hundred windows were broken m the vicinity of the bridge. TWO MEN DETAINED. SUSPENSION GIRDERS BADLY DAMAGED. (Received This Day, 11.0 a.m.) LONDON, March 29. Two men have been detained in connection with the Hammersmith explosion. It is expected that the bridge will be closed for heavy traffic for three weeks. The overhead suspension girders were seriously damaged.
