THE GASWORKS. The Gas Manager reported as fol-lows:—-During February 1939, a total of 33 tons 14cwt. of coal was carbonised for a gross return of 444,300 cubic feet of gas, being an average of 13,180 cubic feet per ton. Consumers’ meters accounted for 406,700 cubic feet, works meter 11,800 cubic feet, and borough office meter 00 cubic feet. Four ordinary meters and three slot meters were changed during the month. Four choked services have been cleaned, one second-hand cooker and two gas rings installed, one purifier changed and 14 consumers’ requirements attended to. The usual routine work has been carried out at the works. The plant is working well,
