Following upon the capture of Manchang the Japanese are threatening Wuning, on the border of the Kiangsi and Hunan Provinces. Their control of a long section of the Chekan railway strangles an important channel for munitions, in addition to Chinese exports since the bottling of the Yangtse and Canton rivers.
