AN ARREST MADE
YOUNG MAN’S DEATH. ALLEGED VICTIM OF ASSAULT. (By T elegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 26. The Auckland police are inquiring into the death at New Lynn on Saturday evening of a man believed to be Mr S. E. M. Christie, aged 24. Neighbours said they understood Mr Christie came from Christchurch, and that he was a well-known cyclist who had undergone an operation upon his head a year ago. A Maori rang Constable Boag at New Lynn to say a young man had been the victim of an assault. The constable went to the house and was told Mr Christie was lying in bed when a Maori came into the room and subjected him to a wrestling hold about, the head and allegedly punched him. Later Mr Christie died. The police have made an arrest.
