The first of three new Empire flying-boats for the trans-Tasman service, the Ao-tea-roa, was launched at Rochester (England) on March 2. These improved flying-boats will take off the water loaded to 46,000lb., will carry 17 passengers with baggage and mails, and will have a range of 2000 miles far greater than the normal range of the Empire flying-boats.
