SOLIDARITY OF BRITAIN AND FRANCE RECEPTION TO M. LEBRUN IN ENGLAND. CONCLUSION OF STATE VISIT. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.25 a.m.) RUGBY, March 24
His Majesty the King and M. Lebrun exchanged telegrams on the conclusion of the State visit. After expressing thanks for the welcome he received, M. Lebrun said: “The reception which the British people has given to the President of the Republic will be interpreted by the French people as a new, unforgettable testimony of the solidarity which unites our two nations.” The King, in reply, said: “The Queen and I thank you most heartily for the very kind terms of your message on leaving the shores of the United Kingdom. Your visit in company with Madame Lebrun has given the utmost pleasure not only to us personally but to the people of the whole Empire. The welcome accorded you served to show once more our deep attachment to a great nation, of which you, Monsieur Lebrun, as President, is its distinguished head.” PRESIDENT’S DEPARTURE. FRIENDLY AND INFORMAL. LONDON. March 24. The King and Queen and the Primcesses accompanied President and Madame Lebrun from the palace to Victoria Station today where crowds cheered their departure. Mr Chamberlain and Lord Hajifax were present. The farewell was friendly and informal. Before leaving M. Lebrun presented an equestrian statue of King George V to the King and a crystal vase to the Queen. ARRIVAL IN PARIS. (Received This Day, 10.50 a.m.) PARIS, March 24. President and Madame Lebrun arrived here at 4.22 p.m.
