Miss Jose Hosking is staying at Plimmerton.

Mr and Mrs Guy Ramsden, of Masterton, are visiting Rotorua. Mrs C. C. Jackson, Kopuaranga, is visiting the South Island. Miss Lesley Beetham of Masterton, is in Feilding for. the polo tournament. Mrs Laird Meredith, Mangapakeha, is staying with her sister Mrs Mcßae, Piopio.

Mrs Wesney, Essex Street, Masterton, is spending a few days in Palmerston North.

Mr and Mrs R. A. Cameron, Dreyor’s Rock, left today on a motor trip to Whakatane.

Mrs R. L. McLaren, and Miss Noeline McLaren, Roberts Road, Lansdowne, have retuned from a visit to Taihape. Miss Joan Joyce, of Cambridge Terrace, left Masterton this morningi to take up a position in Hawera. Mr and Mrs E. M. Hodder and family, Second Street, Lansdowne, are spending the weekend at Paraparaumu Beach.

Mr and Mrs W. Adamson, of Cole Street, Masterton, left this morning for Nelson and Invercargill where they will spend a holiday. The friends of Mrs McKersey, of Te Wharau, who met with a serious motor accident last December will be pleased to know that she has made sufficient progress to be able to leave the hospital and return home.

A pre-wedding party was given by the young people and choir of the Masterton Methodist Church to Miss P. Hessell and Mr W. E. Cody. Items were given by the following: Duet, Miss E. Shoosmith and Miss G. Grieg; solos, Mrs Davies (Auckland) and Miss D. O’Donnell; recitation, Miss P. Jansen. Music for games was provided by Miss V. Davies. Presentations were made to Miss Hessell and Mr Cody, Mr Cody suitably replying. ENGAGEMENT. PHELPS—GARRITY. The engagement is announced of Jovce Gwendoline, second daughter of Mr and Mrs J. C. Garrity, of Dyerville, Martinborough, to Leo Edward, younger son of Mr and Mrs E. T. Phelps, Somerset Road, Parkvale, Carterton.
