HARRIER ACTIVITIES

MASTERTON CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. Mr L. A. Keats presided over a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Masterton Harrier Club held in the Y.M.C.A. buildings last night. An apology for absence was received from Mr R. N. Shaw.

The annual report and balance sheet was adopted, the balance sheet showing the club to be in a good financial position. The subscription for the ensuing season was fixed at 10s, inclusive of registration fee. The age of junior members’ eligible to run was fixed at from 14-18 years. A recommendation to the incoming committee that steps be taken to inaugurate a triangulai’ contest between Masterton, Napier and Hastings to be held annually, was carried. Reference was made to the splendid work carried out during the season by the Ladies’ Committee, and to the services given over a number of years by Mr R. R. Gully. Votes of thanks were passed to the ladies committee and Mr Gully.

The official opening date was fixed for Saturday, April 22, and the enthusiasm shown by those present augurs well for the success of the club for the coming season. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr Geo Shaw; president, Mr I. D. Cameron; vice-presi-dents, Messrs J. Robertson, M.P., W. A. Todd, B. Iveson, E. J. Heffer, T. T. Jordan, W. H. Long, A. Talbot, C. C. Jackson, T. Wyeth, L. A. Keats, S. V. Gooding, T. T. Denbee, J. Buckton; Hon secretary, Mr C. Wright; hon treasurer, Mr L. A. Keats; social secretary, Mr R. Bell; hon auditor, Mr R. R. Gully; club captain, Mr R. R. Gully; vice-captain, Mr W. A. C. Pullar, handicapper, Mr J. J. Hunter; hon doctor, Dr J. C. Forsyth; coach and handicapper, Mi- A. Spicer; committee, Messrs R. Gully, C. Wright, R. N. Shaw, R. Bell, C. K. Long; timekeepers, Messrs J. Buckton, L. S. Nicol, T. Cairns, starters, Messrs J. Hunter, J. Kitchener, T. Cairns, delegates to Wairarapa sub-centre: Messrs R. Watterson and T. Louis; trail layers, Messrs J. J. Hunter and another; Press reporter, Mr C. J. Carle; points keeper, Mr H. W. Carle. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the Chair. Twelve new members were elected.
