WAIRARAPA BEAT HUTT
Wairarapa College beat Hutt Valley High School by 82 runs in the annual first elevens’ match concluded at Lower Hutt yesterday. Wairarapa made 206 and 106 and Hutt Valley 126 and 104- 1 a Features of the game were the good innings by Thomson, who made 62 not out in Wairarapa’s first innings; <. the collapse of the Wairarapa batting in the second innings to the excellent bowling of two Hutt slow break bowlers, on a damp wicket; the excellent fielding; the wicket keeping by Wilson, who in the combined two innings allowed only nine balls to pass him; and the batting of Grant for Hutt, his total being 109 runs. MATCH AT MASTERTON. SECOND ELEVEN DEFEATS TEAM FROM PALMERSTON. The Wairarapa College second eleven had an easy win over the Palmerston North Technical High School’s first eleven in a match played at Masterton yesterday. Wairarapa made 230 in their first innings and the visitors replied with 47 and 83 in the first and second innings respectively. The principal scorers for Wairarapa were K. Miller 52. McNab 33 and Grant 26 not out. For the visitors Weston 12 and Ahern 21 not out were top scorers in the first innings and Weston 23 and Wright 13 in the second innings. Bowling for Wairarapa in the first innings Parsonsen captured 4 wickets for 8 runs. Donnelly 4 for 15 and Alpe 2 for 7 and in the second strike Schofield took 2 for 3. Bellis 3 for 4. Donnelly 2 for 1 and McNab. D. Miller and Alpe collected one wicket each.
