MARTINBOROUGH SALE. LAMB PRICES FIRMER. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report:—We held a sale at Martinborough yesterday when an entry well up to advertised numbers was submitted to a small attendance. . Breeding ewes made late rates, but lambs were firmer, especially b.f’s. We offered two good pens of the latter and they made 13s and 12s 7d respectively. The following are the other prices:—2-th. ewes, 235; m.a. ewes, 8s to Ils; ewe lambs, 12s 3d to 13s 9d; medium b.f. lambs, 8s 6d to 9s lOd; 2-th. wethers (small), 10s. N.Z. LOAIjI & MERCANTILE CO. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report having held a sale at Martinborough yesterday, when a good yarding of sheep and a small yarding of cattle were submitted to a fair attendance. The sale showed a slight improvement on Masterton sale when b.f. lambs were firmer, and breeding ewes maintained late rates. They quote as follows: — Sheep: 2-th, ewes, 22s to 15s; 5-yr. ewes, 15s 4d; 6-yr. ewes, 8s lOd to 10s; b.f. lambs, 10s 9d; w wr. lambs, ,8s 9d; ewe lambs, 13s 4d. Cattle: 2 and 3-yr. heifers, r.w.b., £3. MESSRS DALGETY & CO. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows:—A small yarding was offered to a medium attendance of buyers at Martinborough yesterday. Bidding was slow though vendors met the market. Quotations: —Small 2-th. ewes, 14s 6d; good b.f. lambs, 13s Id; small b.f. lambs, 6s to 7s 6d; cull ewe lambs, 6s 9d. EKETAHUNA SALEMEDIUM AND CULL LAMBS • IN DEMAND. Messrs Dalgety and Co Ltd report on their weekly Eketahuna sale, yesterday as follow: —We yarded an entry of just over 1000 lambs and ewes, which were offered to a fair attendance of buyers. There was no representation from outside districts, and bidding throughout was rather dull. Good W.F. wether and ewe lambs were slightly easier in price than those of late sales, but the medium and cull lambs met a good market, and made values on a par with recent sales. One or two pens of good wether lambs were passed at auction, but otherwise a good clearance was effected. We report—Woolly white face wether lambs, 8s 6d; medium white face wether lambs, 6s 6d, 6s lOd, 7s 6d; good shorn ewe lambs, 11s 6d, Ils 9d, 12s 3d; medium ditto, 10s, 10s 6d, 10s 7d; small ditto, 7s Id to 8s 7d; shorn w.f. wether lambs (medium), 6s 6d to 7s 8d; mixed age ewes r.w. Southdown Ram (medium quality), 9s, 9s 6d to 10s lid; aged Romney rams, Jgn to |gn; aged Southdown rams, |gn to llgns.
N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report: The entry came forward up to advertised numbers and was submitted to a fair attendance of the local farmers. Realisations remain on a par with ruling rates, with a slight improvement for b.f. lambs. We quote sales as follows. Sheep. —Five-year ewes, 11/-; shorn wether lambs, 6/3 to 10/-; shorn ewe lambs, 9/10 to 13/-; small 2-tooth ewes 17/8; b.f. lambs, 11/6, 11/7. Cattle—Springing cow, £4 10/-; springing heifers, £5 7/6 to £6 2/6; heifers, r.w.b., £4 12/6. Pigs.—Weaners, best, 6/-, 5/6 to 4/6. Horses—Half -draught, gelding, £25.
