ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
SHOP DAY ON FRIDAY. Wherever there is a football match, a seaside carnival, or an A. and P. Show, in short wherever there is a possibility of an accident occurring,, there always will be found on duty the St John Ambulance officials, who, when required, render first aid in the absence of a doctor. This attention has come to be taken for granted and no thought is given to the individual sacrifice it entails, for the work is voluntary. This year the St John Ambulance is making a special effort to train more cadets. On Friday an opportunity to assist the Ambulance Brigade will be given to the public when a Shop Day in aid of the cadet equipment fund is being held at the Occidental Mart, Queen Street. There will be the usual stalls and in addition a certain number of articles made by the Maoris, amongst whom cadet classes are also being held. The public is asked ,to show its appreciation of the work of’the St John Brigade by contributing or purchasing goods on Friday. Goods may be left at the Mart on Friday morning or will be called for on ringing ’phone 1866.
