NOREASON FOR ALARM
POSITION IN RUMANIA GOVERNMENT OPTIMISTIC. DEMOBILISATION MEASURES By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received This Day, 11.25 a.m.) BUCHAREST, March 22. Mr Armand Calinso has issued a statement substantially similar to ■ the communique of March 21. He added that he hoped it would be possible to demobilise in ten to fifteen days. The measures taken would not interfere with economic activity.
A later communique stated that there was no reason for alarm. The Government was optimistic, the sitiiation having improved compared with three days ago. The Grand Council front of National Rebirth (Carol’s Single Party organisation) is being summoned on March 27 to hear the Government declaration.
A former finance minister, M Manolescustrunga has been arrested.' He represents the Rumania-German Dye Trust, and the German-controlled soya bean company. TALKS WITH GERMANY NEGOTIATIONS BEING CONTINUED. AGREEMENT EXPECTED BEFORE WEEKEND. (Received This Day, 12.40 p.m.) BUCHAREST, March 22. It is officially stated that Herr Wolthat has postponed his departure and the. negotiations are to continue uninterrupted. An agreement may be expected before the weekend, not involving Rumania politically, and not granting commercial monopolies. Herr Woltbat said Germany was negotiating for a decrease of the HungarianRumanian tension, and was likely to apply pressure to Hungary to reduce the numbers under arms.
