MASTER OF WILD ANIMALS

TROUBLE AVERTED IN STUDIO. The Great Blacaman, Hindu animal hypnotist proved recently that he really is master of wild beasts. During the height of a rainstorm six 12-foot crocodiles were being transferred from their pen to the cage in which Blacaman was to work with them. Just as they were all out on the open stage something went wrong with the electric power lines and the studio was plunged into darkness. For a few minutes pandemonium reigned on the set. More than 50 workers pushed and shoved each other in their mad scramble to reach the nearest parallels or other high places where they would be out of danger. Raising the excitement to an even higher pitch, all 40 lions with which Blacaman had just been working started roaring at once. Blacaman was the only man on the set who remained calm. Defying danger, he started groping around in the dark for the crocodiles. As fast as he could find them, he carried them back to their pen. By the time the lights came on again three of the animals already had been returned to the pen and Blacaman and his assistants made a quick job of corralling the other three. Then the crew came down off their high perches. ,
