Mr A. E. Reid said that he was particularly pleased to be the president of a club with such a record on and off the field. He congratulated the secretary (Mr G. Steffert) on his comprehensive report covering all activities of the club, and also the treasurer (Mr G. Udy) on his concise financial statement. The subscriptions collected constituted a record, but, said Mr Reid, all but £5 had to be paid to the Union. It was quite evident that the club could not live on subscriptions alone, and were grateful for the many donations received. Mr Reid extended thanks to the ladies connected with the club who had assisted at all social functions. “Carterton again won the Dewar Shield,” he concluded, “and there is i more honour attached to that than to any of the individual championships, as even the smallest boy playing in the 'lower grades helps to win the points required. It shows that all are imbued with the club spirit. I would like to remind you that this is our Jubilee year and I would like all who play and other members to put their shoulders to the wheel and make this year memorable in every way.”
