The inspector of machinery inspected the boiler on February 1, and in his report he states the scale must be removed from the shell, th'e boiler retubed and a hydraulic test made before the issue of another certificate. The work is being done by a local firm and will take about 10 working days to complete. The cost of retubing the boiler is £97. While this work is in progress I am taking the opportunity of overhauling the water gas plant as some of the plates will have to be strengthened and rewelded. A start has been made to lay a 3in. main in Cambridge Terrace. At the present time the consumers in this locality arc-' using the gas off a high pressure main and must be put to a great deal of inconvenience when using the gas appliances. When the job is completed and the services are coupled into the new 3in. main I am sure that we will have more satisfied consumers.
