MEETING IN WELLINGTON. ELECTION OF OFFICERS'. • —— ?! A general meeting of the New Zealand branch of the British Drama League was field in Wellington on Saturday last, when the Wairarapa area was represented by Mesdames M. Cleghorn and E. J. Rich, Miss O. R. Sutherland and Mr G. W. Morice. The main business before the meeting was the consideration of the draft of the new constitution, which was debated clause by clause and in some instances amended. A great deal of the discussion dealt with finance, and it was announced that the expenses of headquarters were cut down to a minimum, Since the beginning of December the work of secretary has been done voluntarily by Mrs W. D! Davies who was heartily thanked for her efforts. As she is to be away from New Zealand for some time the work will now be done by Mrs A. M. Goulding, who is also giving her services free to the League.
The election, of oinceit, resulted in Mr H. B. Tomlinson, M.A., until recently president of the Wairarapa Area, being elected New Zealand President. Mr A. S. Farquhar was elected vicepresident, and Miss Amy Kane, Messrs Lawrence (Timaru), and Swan (Wellington) were appointed to the National Council in an advisory capacity. One delegate from each area is also to act on the National Council.
A meeting of the National Council will be held in Wellington on April 29 when among other things festival rules will be considered. ,
