The autumn meeting of the Wellington Racing Club which concluded at Trentham on Saturday in glorious weather, was a triumph for Trentham, specially the stable controlled by T. R. George. To his three successes on Friday, he added four more, making seven for the two days—a record. The figures for the day were £75,437 against £70,636, an increase of £4BOl. RACES AT PAEROA CHIEF EVENT TO RULETTE. ORWERE WINS HANDICAP. PAEROA, March 18. Brilliant weather prevailed for the concluding day of the Ohinemuri Jockey Club's autumn meeting at Paeroa today. The totalisator today handled £39.151 and last year £36,778, an increase of £2353. For the meeting £72.085 10s was put through and last year £68,654, an increase of £3431 10s. The correct first day figures last year were £31,876 not £27,950 10s. Therefore the increase was only £lO5B 10s on the first day. An enjoyable day is assured for the third annual race meeting of the Castlepoint Racing Club to be held on the beach next Saturday. The list of excellent entries was published on Saturday, and all arrangements are in hand for a well-organised outing. The first race will commence at 1.30 p.m., and a public address system will be installed to give spectators full detials of every happening. Since this is always a jolly picnic meeting every facility, too, is given picnickers, and hot water will be supplied free. The Tinui Dog Trials Club is also holding its annual dance in the Tinui Hall that night, so on the way back Tinui is bound to be a stopping place for many; who will want to wind up the day’s fun with a jolly dance.
