WIN FOR VISITING TEAM. >No function of the local club is more eagerly anticipated than the interchange of visits between the Petone and Masterton-Opaki Rifle Clubs, and that of the marksmen from Wellington’s industrial suburb to Masterton at the weekend proved no exception to the rule; in fact it was considered to be the most enjoyable since the inception of the visits. The visitors numbering twenty shooters were accompanied by several lady supporters, while the Masterton-Opaki lady friends rolled up in good numbers, and under .the superintendence of Mrs H. King carried out the onerous duties of the catering to the fullest appreciation of all, and in no small measure by their assistance and presence contributed largely to a successful and enjoyable meeting. Shooting conditions were somewhat tricky, especially at 900 yards, and the best score of the day was recorded by H. K. Smith, with 117 out of a possible 125. The ranges were 800 yards and 900 yards, 10,shots at the former and 15 at the latter. The best fifteen scores of each club constituted the teams. Each team consisted of three squads formed in sequence.of totals. Petone won by 1 point on the aggregate total, and by two wins to Master-ton-Opaki’s one on squad results. Scores: PETONE.
