WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT ALFREDTON. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The members of the Alfredton Women’s Institute held their annual meeting at the Recreation Grounds, the outdoor meeting being appreciated by all. There was a fair attendance cf members and Mrs Hull presided. The annual report and balance sheet was read and adopted.The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President, Mrs Hull' (re-elected); vice-presidents, Mesdames Parsonson, Didsbury and Weston; committee, Mesdames Didsbury, Smith, Weston, Clee, Spring, Algie, Low, Burch, Parsonson, G. Napier, Farrall and Miss S. Napier; Mrs Dickens and Mrs Low were reelected secretary and treasurer respectively;.

The competitions points prize for the year was won by Mrs Dickens who is now the holder of the cup for the year and also the winner of the prize for most entries for the year. A prize donated by Mrs J. Parsonson for most entries made by a non prize winner through the year was won by Mrs E. McLean. Mrs Didsbury won Miss Jessie Napier’s prize for best blooms for the year. The competition for best bloom exhibited during the afternoon resulted: Mrs Seymour 1, Mrs Weston 2, Mrs Spring 3. Dainty shoulder sprays, made by Mrs J. Hartley, were presented to Mesdames Hull, Dickens, Low and Weston. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Smith, Low, Payne and Weston. The committee wish to thank the following for donating prizes for the Flower Show: Messrs A. H. Herbert and Co, Mesdames Didsbury, Hull, Dickens, Smith, G. Napier, A. Napier, Low, Parsonson and Farrall.
