FURY IN BERLIN
MR DUFF COOPER’S ATTACK ON HITLER REGARDED AS OFFICIALLY SANCTIONED. SIR N. HENDERSON’S RECALL. (Received This Day, 11.5 a.m.) BERLIN, March 17. Mounting Nazi fury is evident and diplomatic consequences are forecasted as a result of Mr A. Duff Cooper’s personal attack on Herr Hiller in the House of Commons. It is pointed out that neither the Speaker of the House nor any member of the Government intervened, which seems to sanction it officially. A diplomatic spokesman said: “The British Government at present undoubtedly has sufficient reasons requiring a personal report from its Berlin Ambassador, but unless his return is shown to be in the nature of a demonstrative character, such as a deliberate and protracted absence, the Reich sees no reason to 1 recall its Ambassador, since the German Government at present has no special reason to hear a personal report from its London Ambassador concerning current matters, or the view of the British Government.” ANGER IN BRITAIN OVER DISMEMBERMENT OF CZECHOSLOVAKIA. SPEECH BY THE PREMIER AWAITED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.23 a.m.) RUGBY, March 17.
