FURY IN BERLIN

MR DUFF COOPER’S ATTACK ON HITLER REGARDED AS OFFICIALLY SANCTIONED. SIR N. HENDERSON’S RECALL. (Received This Day, 11.5 a.m.) BERLIN, March 17. Mounting Nazi fury is evident and diplomatic consequences are forecasted as a result of Mr A. Duff Cooper’s personal attack on Herr Hiller in the House of Commons. It is pointed out that neither the Speaker of the House nor any member of the Government intervened, which seems to sanction it officially. A diplomatic spokesman said: “The British Government at present undoubtedly has sufficient reasons requiring a personal report from its Berlin Ambassador, but unless his return is shown to be in the nature of a demonstrative character, such as a deliberate and protracted absence, the Reich sees no reason to 1 recall its Ambassador, since the German Government at present has no special reason to hear a personal report from its London Ambassador concerning current matters, or the view of the British Government.” ANGER IN BRITAIN OVER DISMEMBERMENT OF CZECHOSLOVAKIA. SPEECH BY THE PREMIER AWAITED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.23 a.m.) RUGBY, March 17. Indignation aroused by the dismemberment of Czechoslovakia' has increased in the City and in the lobbies of the House of Commons it is almost the sole topic of conversation. A speech at Birmingham tonight by Mr Chamberlain is awaited with widespread interest. COMPULSORY SERVICE. ADVOCATED IN BRITAIN. (Independent Cable Service.) LONDON. March 17. The Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Commons has decided to press for the immediate introduction of compulsory service. MINISTERIAL CHANGES. (Received This Day, 9.35 a.m.) PRAGUE, March 17.
