SHOW AT MARTINBOROUGH
SUCCESSFUL EXHIBITION. HIGH STANDARD SET. (“Times-Age” Special.) The fourteenth annual St. Andrew’s flower show was held yesterday in the Parish Hall. The glorious day resulted in a large attendance and a high standard was set by the exhibitors. There were between 600 and 700 exhibits. The show was under the capable supervision of Miss Dymes who had many willing helpers. In cut blooms Mrs E. Clarke won 8 first prizes and 7 seconds, Mrs Arch. Clarke 3 firsts and 1 second, Mr H. G. Smith 3 firsts and 3 seconds, Mr Fletcher 3 firsts and 2 seconds, Mrs D. Riddiford 2 firsts and 5 seconds, Mrs C. W. Skill 2 firsts and 3 seconds. Mrs Bayliss 2 firsts and 1 second, Mrs G. Couper 2 firsts and 1 second, Mrs Kershaw 2 firsts, Mrs A. Morrison 3 seconds, Mrs Reid 1 first and 2 seconds, Mrs J? Martin 1 first and 4 seconds, Mrs W. B. Martin 1 first and 2 seconds, Mrs H. Hardinge 1 first and 2 seconds, Mrs W. J. Busch 1 first and 1 second, Mrs D. Clifton 1 first, Mrs G. Willis 1 second. The points prie was won by Mrs E. Clarke, and the champion rose was shown by Mrs Arch. Clarke.
In the cottage section, Mrs Bayliss won 4 firsts and 1 second, Mr W. J. Busch 2 firsts and 2 seconds, Mr H. G. Smith 2 firsts, Mrs Bowden 1 first and 1 second, Mrs H. Hardinge-1 first and 1 second, Mrs A. E. Reid 1 'first and 1 second, Miss Collier. 2 firsts, Mrs Madsen 1 first, Mrs Boyd 1 first, Mrs Hamilton 1 first, Miss C. Hewitt 1 first, Mrs Albert Smith 1 second, Miss Robinson 1 second, Mr A. F. Harding 2 seconds, Mrs Sqharnweber 2 seconds, Mrs Cotter 2 seconds, Mrs Herrick 1 second, Mrs Cuthbert 1 second. The best aster was shown by Miss Collier and the best dahlia (Sleeth Cup and trophy) by Mr H. G .Smith. The prize winners in the decorative section were: —Mrs Bayliss 4 firsts and 2 seconds, Mrs Caseley 3 firsts and 1 second, Mrs D. McMaster 1 first and 2 seconds, Mrs Knell 1 first and 1 second, Mrs A. Clarke 1 first, Mrs A. McWilliams 1 first, Mrs Kidd 1 'first, Miss Phyliss Nicholson 1 first, Miss Tutbury 2 seconds, Miss Ola Nicol 1 second, Mrs Boyd ,1 second, Miss M. C. Martin 1 second. The points prize was won by Mrs Bayliss, who now wins the challenge cup outright. Mrs Caseley was runner-up. In the fruit classes, Mrs Edwin Clarke won 2 firsts and 1 second, Mr Kidd 1 first and 2 seconds, Mrs Riddiford’2 firsts, Mr Williamson 1 first and 1 second, E. D. Martin 1 first, Mrs MacPherson 1 second, Mr W. J. Busch 1 second. The points prize was won by Mrs Edwin Clarke. The prize-winners in vegetables were: —Mr W. J. Busch 5 firsts and 4 seconds, Mrs W. B.
