SERIOUS GRASS FIRE
OUTBREAK AT MORISON'S BUSH. HOTEL AND RESIDENCE MENACED. (“Times-Age” Special.) Fire, believed to have been started by a carelessly thrown lighted match, swept through about 100 acres of grass lands and a patch of standing bush on Mr H. Sutherland’s property at Morison’s Bush on Wednesday and again yesterday. At one stage Morison’s Bush Hotel. Mr J. Mclntosh’s residence, outbuildings and haystacks were menaced by the flames which spread with great rapidity. For over four hours about 40 men fought a strenuous fight against the fire. The fire spread across the Main Highway but was checked before it had travelled very far. A watch was kept on the place throughout Wednesday night, but when the dew dried off yesterday morning another outbreak occurred and a score of men worked for several hours before it was subdued.
