STOCK MARKET

EKETAHUNA SALE. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co Ltd report as follows: A good yarding of sheep came forward at our Eketahuna sale yesterday and was offered to a fair attendance. Competition for breeding ewes was limited and sheep lacking condition were hard to quit. Lambs sold on a par with late rates, and practically a total clearance was made at the following prices:—syr ewes, 10s 3d to' 12s 6d; 4yr ewes to 15s 6d; small 2-th ewes, 15s to 16s 6d; w.wr. lambs, to 10s 6d; b.f. lambs, 10s to 10s 6d; small b.f. lambs, to 9s. N.Z. LOAN & MERCANTILE CO. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co Ltd report:—At our Eketahuna sale held yesterday, an entry came forward in excess of advertised numbers and was submitted to a fair attendance of local, Pahiatua and Masterton buyers. Prices remained on a par with those ruling at surrounding sales, but competition for better class ewes was quite keen up to buyers limits. The yarding of cattle created little interest, a number of pens being passed in. However, of our total entry of 1300 odd sheep, all were disposed of at auction. A good yarding of pigs were readily saleable at the reduced prices now ruling. We quote as follows:—
