PRICES SHOW UPWARD ■ TENDENCY COMPETITION. WELL SPREAD. OFFERING SHOWS EFFECTS OF WEATHER. ’By Telegraph—Press Association ) DUNEDIN, This Day. At the third wool sales of the season today 27.267 bales were offered. Competition was wider spread that at the previous sale. Bradford revealed more elastic limits and Germany bought well. Continental interest was centred in piece wools. The offerings all showed the effects of the weather, some being off colour and out of condition. Extra fine wools drew keen competition from local mills.
Prices for fine wools were firm on the last Christchurch and Timaru sales, being Jd to Ad dearer than at the second sale.
Crossbreds were firm on Invercargill rates. Necks and pieces were in good demand, prices ranging from par to ,’d dearer than on the last sale. The top price for the morning was 153 d for superfine combing Merino and 14 jd for four bales of superfine halfbred, both going to local mills. LONDON MARKET OPENING RATES FULLY MAINTAINED. A good selection met with an active demand and buying was more general. A good clearance was effected at full parity with the opening rates. New Zealand slipe crossbred lambs. Fairfield, brought 12Jd.
