WAIRARAPA R.S.A.
CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEETING. MEMBERSHIP NOW 593. A meeting of the Central. Committee of the Wairarapa R.S.A. was held in Masterton last night. The president, Mr H. J. Brass, occupied the chair and there were also present Messrs H. G. Alexander, W. J. White, A. L. Bennett A. G. Wallis, R. Whyborn, L. S. Nicol (Masterton), A. T. Murray, C. A. Chennells, C. A. Gray (Carterton), G. Robinson, Miss L. Higginson (Greytown), Messrs J. A. Halpin, J. W. Fellington, A. Robbins (Featherston), N. H- Thomas and N. C. D. Mason (Martinborough). It was reported that only one application had been received in the district in response to an invitation from Furlough House, Sydney, for the sons of New Zealand ex-servicemen to visit Sydney for a fortnight. The applicant had been accepted and would leave New Zealand on April 3.
Eight new members were elected, bringing the financial strength of the Wairarapa branch to 593. A sub-committec was set up to make arrangements for the forthcoming celebration of Anzac Day.
The treasurer reported a credit balance of £464 16s 7d. It was decided to hold the next meeting in Carterton on April 4.
