GOING STRONG AT 80

COMMONSENSE DIET & EXERCISE. A remarkable example of physical and mental health in a man of eighty years was mentioned at a luncheon of the Wellington Rotary Club by Mr C. Ruxton Bach, Physical Welfare Officer of the Department of Internal Affairs. “I was recently reading a book by Sir Arthur Newsholme, sometime principal medical officer of the British Ministry of Health, in which, at eighty years of age, his writings are marvellously clear, terse, and balanced by a lifetime of experience,” he said. “Hard work, moderation and an understanding of reasonableness in diet and activity generally have made him a keener and abler thinker and writer than he was as a young man.
