SHOP DAY
WOMEN'S DIVISION EFFORT. On Wednesday the Wairarapa Council of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union is holding a shop day at the Occidental Mart, Queen Street, Masterton. All manner of fresh country produce, eggs, butter, cream, vegetables, fruit, etc., home-made cakes, jams, scones and bread will be on sale. There will also be a jumble stall, where bargains of all kinds may be bought. The proceeds are in aid of the Housekeeping Fund, which subsidises, when necessary, the cost of the services of Women’s Division housekeepers appointed to take charge of the home in the absence of sick or tired mothers. It is the most practical form of help towards an increase in. the birth rate, and at a time when country mothers are constantly required to rise to emergencies of all kinds, due to the shortage of help both inside and outside the home, such assistance is more necessary than ever.
It is hoped that members throughout the Wairarapa and the public generally will assist in stocking the stalls and in taking advantage»of the opportunity of obtaining all manner of goods fresh from the farm and kitchen.
