KNOX LADIES’ GUILD
BUSINESS AT MONTHLY MEETING. HARVEST FESTIVAL SERVICES. The Knox Ladies’ Guild resumed its monthly meetings on Thursday last, when members met at the residence of Mrs Norman, Cole Street. Mrs G. W. Morice presided over a well-attended gathering. A motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Mrs Donald Douglas, a former president of the guild. The Rev J. Davie spoke feelingly of the loss sustained by the guild and by the community generally in the passing of one who gave herself so willingly in the service of others. In connection with the Harvest Festival services to be held shortly, Mrs Joseph offered to take charge of the church decoration, and Mesdames McGregor, Ractliffe and Stubbings agreed to assist. It was decided to continue the bring and buy stalls each month, and Mrs Shearer offered to cohduct the stall next month. Mrs F. Reynolds was thanked for her offer to place flowers in the church dui’ing March. 1 Miss L. McGregor reported that the local committee of the Pan-Pacific Conference was anxious for the different women’s organisations in the town to form study groups. It was decided, however, that it would hot be practicable for the Guild members to form such a group/ After the business was concluded, a short programme was given. Those who contributed were:—Mrs Cummins (songs and piano solos) and Miss E. Ralph (songs). Mrs Morton was the accompaniste. Afternoon tea was served by the hostess. 1 Votes of thanks were passed to the ladies who provided the programme, and especially to Mrs Norman, who had so kindly entertained the ladies at her home.
