SIR H. BATTERBEE

ARRIVAL IN WELLINGTON. DEVELOPMENT OF IMPERIAL RELATIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Sir Harry Batterbee arrived today to take up his duties as first High Commissioner for Great Britain in New Zealand. He is accompanied by Lady Batterbee and his niece, Miss Biggar. The Permanent Head of the Prime Minister’s Department, Mr C. A. Berendsen, travelled with the party from Auckland. Soon after his arrival Sir H. Batterbee made an official call on the Governor-General (Viscount Galway). On Monday he will call on the Prime Minister (the Rt Hon M. J. Savage). The new High Commissioner will be tendered a civic reception and will be the guest of the Government at luncheon. Sir H. Batterbee’s appointment is in line with appointments made in recent years to Canada, South Afiica and Australia with a view to the further development of a system of communication and consultation between his Majesty’s Governments, the importance of which has been stressed at successive Imperial Conferences,
